The Venice-St. Moritz Tour is a new, comprehensive journey by train and coach launched in 2008. It connects the Adriatic lagoon city of Venice with Olympic St. Moritz at 1,856 m.a.s.l. in the Swiss Alps - and 6 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage properties plus the Swiss National Park. The journey can be made in either direction at any time of the year and takes around 8 hours, depending on the timetable chosen. Starting 2008, guided tour packages with reserved seating will be available in first class (except on the sectors of the Vinschg Railway and PostBus, which offer only one class).
In combination with the railway "classic", the Glacier Express, it is now possible to visit Venice, St. Moritz and Zermatt with the Matterhorn in a mere 2 to 3 days - all on one and the same journey. The route is destined to become a "must" for all culture and history buffs, leading as it does to a unique cluster of world-famous UNESCO World Cultural Heritage properties. Travelers will pass by no less than 7 of them - Venice, Padova, Vicenza, Verona, Müstair, the Albula/Bernina railway route and the Aletsch Glacier. Plus the Swiss National Park in the Engadin - the only one in Switzerland, and the oldest one in Europe.
New: An 8th UNESCO World Cultural Heritage property - the rock drawings in Capo di Ponte - can be visited on the return journey by taking the tour's western route via Brescia - Monte Isola - Valcamonica.
