Venice`s Santa Lucia Train Station

Venice (Venezia in Italian; Venedig in German) may be reached by either plane or train from Switzerland, Austria and Germany.,


Venezia Santa Lucia Train Station is located along Venices Grand Canal. From this terminus, Trenitalia regional trains travel (almost) every hour to Padua, Vicenza and Verona. The fast regional trains (Regionali Veloci, Regio Express) do not require a seat reservation. In the Freccia Bianca (Trenitalias express train), however, a seat reservation is mandatory.


The EuroCity trains of the German Railways (DB) and the Austrian Federal Railways (OeBB) offer an excellent direct connection from Venice to Bolzano/Bozen. Tickets may be purchased on board.


A private high-speed train, ITALO, runs to Rome several times a day via Padua and Bologna. Tickets are sold right on board, without extra charge, on all ITALO trains.


The left-luggage office at Venices Santa Lucia Station is located next to platform 1. Opening times: daily from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. There is a fee of 5 euros per bag for the first 5 hours. After that, you pay an additional hourly fee. (as of: December 2012)
